FAQ
Can I use an egg substitute?
Yes, greek yogurt and also applesauce are the best substitutes.
Can I use different flours?
Yes, using a different flour will change the ending texture though, so keep that in mind.
What chocolate chips should I use?
I prefer half milk chocolate chips and half semi sweet chocolate chips, but you can use whatever chocolate chips you would like!
In fact growing up my mom would often do a combo semi sweet chocolate chips and butterscotch cookies. That combo is divine!
Are homemade chocolate chip cookies healthier than store-bought?
Typically they are healthier because you know where the ingredients come from, and there are no preservatives that would be in a store bought cookie.
What if I don’t have a mixer?
These can be made without a mixer, although the end result may be different.
Can I freeze the dough?
Yes! I love to make big batches of dough then freeze what I don’t cook! To freeze the dough you also need to scoop it onto a baking sheet as if you were going to cook them. Rather than putting the sheet into the oven you will just put it into the freezer. Freeze the dough balls for 2+ hours. Once they are frozen you can move them into a ziplock bag, or airtight container.
Do I need to change how I cook the frozen dough?
The only thing you need to change is the cook time, I bake my frozen dough straight from the freezer but add 2-3 minutes to the cook time. These cookies were frozen and I baked them for 11 minutes. *Baking them from frozen gives them an even more chewy texture!
